I recently discovered that we are in the 4th industrial revolution. I don’t know about you, but I think I lost a couple of revolutions somewhere, or perhaps I was not paying enough attention in history class.  Most of us do recall the start of the industrial revolution, around 1785. It brought mechanical life-changing innovations like the steam engine, cotton spinning and railroads.  The second industrial revolution, which we can date to around 1875, brought mass production through assembly lines and electrification.

One hundred years later, the third industrial revolution, (and the one I forgot about or more accurately did not associate with industrial), brought mainframe computers, personal computing and the internet.

And now (drum roll) we are in the fourth industrial revolution.

The World Economic Forum Watch produced this amazing video about the Fourth Industrial Revolution; check it out for a refresher of each stage.

The 4thIndustrial Revolution: GE’s Predix Industrial Cloud Platform

Experts predict that in 5-7 years we’ll see 50 billion machines connected over IP protocols – something unprecedented in the history of both the internet and the industrial age.  We’re at the dawn of the industrial internet. This fourth revolution is a fusion between the digital and the industrial.

And unlike Gil Scott-Heron’s declaration that the revolution will not be televised, this one will be on display for all to see.

GE, one of America’s industrial pioneers and a true innovative giant, recently launched the GE Digital Alliance Program, a select grouping of systems integrators, telecommunications service providers, independent software vendors, technology providers and resellers to help them launch this next era.

We are very privileged that Softtek was chosen, along with companies such as Intel, AT&T and Cisco, to be one of GE’s select Global Strategic partners.

Softtek has created a comprehensive Industrial Internet service offering to help clients transform their industrial processes and systems into digital assets that generate unparalleled business impact. By joining GE’s Digital Alliance Program, Softtek is connected with the technology and digital industrial expertise of GE and the eco-system. JoinsGE_ok.jpg

Jay Barrows, GE’s Chief Sales Officer, Blew the House Down at our Digital Innovation Summit -

And to put the crown on our recent news, Jay Barrows, Chief Sales Officer at GE Digital, gave a fantastic presentation at our Digital Innovation Summit in Cancun.

Jay’s talk, entitled Making The Industrial Internet of Things Real, was about how GE is leveraging the industrial internet to transform both internally and externally. He presented key industry and customer outcomes that are changing the way we approach the industrial marketplace.

Join Us In the New Revolution

For the past two years, Softtek has implemented Predix solutions to help industrial clients significantly improve their operations. In one example, we helped implement a transformational water treatment solution that connects over 4.5 million assets such as cooling towers, boilers and water tanks. By connecting these physical assets, our client can now gather and analyze valuable data in real-time, enabling mobile monitoring and enhanced decision-making.

And we are ready to help you. Join us, and together we’ll take you on a journey to join the next industrial revolution. Read more about our IIoT service.
