Minds, Machines, and Softtek converge at the IIoT event of the year

What Dreamforce is to CRM, and Sapphire is to ERP, the upcoming Minds + Machines conference is to the Industrial Internet of Things.

In its fifth year, GE’s Minds + Machines will take place November 15-16 in San Francisco at Pier 48. With GE’s Predix cloud-based platform as the focal point for digital and industrial solutions in the IIoT space, the conference will help companies understand how they can kick off their own digital transformation journey with Predix.

And as a global strategic partner with GE Digital, Softtek will be there helping companies build their digital industrial transformation strategy.

What Is the IIoT, and Why Does It Mattmind.jpger?

Investment in the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) will surpass $60 trillion during the next 15 years. And by 2020, over 50 billion assets will connect to the Internet.

But a truly global industrial platform needs to consume and analyze massive volumes of data by connecting to a wide variety of machines, sensors, control systems, data sources, and devices. Yet today, less than 3% of that data is tagged and used in a meaningful way.

Responding to these global trends GE has created Predix, the first industrial operation system for the IIoT. Predix-based applications connect industrial assets, collecting, and analyzing data and delivering real-time insights for optimizing industrial infrastructure and operations, including GE and non-GE assets.

GE expects Predix software to do for factories and plants what Apple's iOS did for cell phones.

Imagine this played out across whole industries: factories, agricultural machinery, energy generation, building complexes, and more. You get the picture. Every piece of industrial machinery will be transformed from static, inanimate objects that just “run” into continuously improving smart devices that will save us time, money, energy and the environment.

Think Big, Start Small, Move Fast

At Softtek we’re doing exciting things to help build solutions and create value across three significant segments of the Industrial Internet:

  1. Brilliant Manufacturing for the Food & Beverage Industry and for Discrete Manufacturing

  2. Asset Performance Management

  3. Sustainable Resource Management, mostly related to Utility Management (Energy, Water, etc.) & Sustainability Solutions across industries.

If you're attending this year's Minds + Machines, stop on by and say hello. If you have a thought about IIoT or want to exchange ideas, feel free to leave me a comment below.
